Art Facilitators at Vinfen’s Art Connection Studio empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and psychiatric conditions through the use of art therapy.
As an Art Facilitator, you will mentor artists through a journey that promotes self-expression and personal growth. Your job will be to help these artists develop the skills they need to reach their full potential and achieve their career goals. You will accomplish all this by facilitating studio classes that allow artists to explore and experience the process of creating art.
Each day, you will support a caseload of artists within your studio classes. You will design your classes to meet the diverse needs of your artists. You will facilitate a variety of classes that employ an assortment of mediums such as fibers, jewelry making, and painting. Within these classes, you will help artists translate their emotions and experiences with art into skills needed for daily living. You will also track your artists’ goals and their overall progress and vocational development. In your role you will work together with the people we serve, their families, friends, employers, and other support staff to transform their lives.
In addition, you will assist the studio by organizing artwork, ordering art supplies, and keep the studio clean and safe. You will also participate in producing and installing internal and external art exhibits.
Many Art Facilitators find the role of aiding others in achieving their goals is very rewarding. They take pride in supporting people to become more independent and develop job and social skills. There are challenges especially when your artists struggle and are frustrated with their art and goals, but you will also get to witness the joy of when your artists succeed. This is a great position to grow as an art therapist.
