Vinfen CT Looks to the Future

Jana HeadshotIn the last year, Vinfen CT saw many changes that involve life evolving shifts for people we serve. This was a phenomenal year for 27 people who we serve who honed their interview skills, sought out and landed an independent job in 13 locations in the greater Hartford area! Still other individuals achieved a life goal of moving into their own apartment and begin the adventure of building community relationships and strengthening friend and  family networks. We also welcomed several new folks into their Vinfen CT homes.

Other moments of joy include several staff welcoming their newborns to the world.  While others received recognition and promotions for funneling their passion for service into providing excellence in partnership and care.  On December 4, our Art Connection team ended their year with yet another beautiful Winter Exhibition, “Home”.  Many of the artist were present to showcase and discuss the inspiration for their work with many of the attendees including very special guests, Governor Dannel  and Mrs. Cathy Malloy.

However, one of the biggest changes to our Vinfen CT family came when our founding leader of 15 years, Elisa Velardo, announced her departure.  Hearts were heavy but at the same time filled with pride as she was appointed by DDS Commissioner Morna Murray to the position of DDS North Region Director.  While the Vinfen team lost a wonderful leader, the team has opened a new door and looks toward the coming year with infinite possibilities for deepening and developing new relationships, planning for strategic growth and envisioning new opportunities!

Here’s to a wonderful and memorable look back on 2015 and a wide-eyed eagerly anticipated look forward to 2016!
