Governor Malloy and First Lady Visit Art Connection Studio

Mayor and Emma KVinfen’s Art Connection Studio was honored to welcome Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy and Connecticut First Lady and CEO of the Greater Hartford Arts Council Cathy Malloy for the opening reception of their newest exhibit, “Home: where the art is,” on December 4, 2015.

The Governor and First Lady had the chance to tour the studio and speak with artists about the exhibit and their artwork, which celebrated the varying ideas and feelings that home ignites. The pair got a first-hand look at the innovative work that takes place at Art Connection Studio each day, and had the chance to learn about the mission.

“They were extremely gracious and compassionate with all the artists, and took the time to get to know who we are and what our mission is,” said Art Connection Studio Program Director Marita McDermott. “Their effort to speak to the artists and understand the work they were doing was remarkable.”

While this was the Governor’s first visit to the studio, the First Lady previously visited for a tour. Art Connection Studio was delighted that the First Lady and the Governor returned for a chance to get to know the talented artists.
