Artists and staff Vinfen’s Art Connection Studio were honored to tour the Connecticut Governor’s Residence on December 22, 2016. Connecticut First Lady and Chair of the Greater Hartford Arts Council Cathy Malloy led the artists on a personal tour of the residence, explaining the historical significance of many of the mansion’s features.
As Christmas approached, they had a wonderful time hearing about all the Malloy’s Christmas trees, one of which was filled with sentimental ornaments, and others decorated exclusively with green, purple, or silver ornaments. The First Lady explained that in addition to their family’s personal collection of Christmas decorations, a number of local growers and small businesses generously donated their own seasonal agricultural decorations to the Governor’s residence for when they open their home to their constituents throughout the holiday season.
The artists got the chance to view Ben Malloy’s personal nutcracker collection. At the end of the visit, they were treated to hot chocolate and cider in the Brown Room with the First Lady. Art Connection Studio Artist Arnaldo S. presented First Lady Malloy with a gift from everyone at the studio in thanks for inviting them to visit the residence.
A special thank you to Governor Dannel Malloy and First Lady Cathy Malloy for inviting Art Connection Studio into their home.
